Granted, the Dell I got is not the same quality of panel, but as a 27" 144 Hz display, it was $300. It needs more gaming-focused features (higher refresh rate, mainly) and a lower price tag to reasonably be an alternative to multiple monitors. Then again, if you want to do something like play a game and keep work separate, you have to fiddle with the picture-by-picture settings anyway. These seems like a product one would buy solely of convenience on monitor management over anything else. It limits mounting options, where as it's easy and cheap to find multi-monitor mounts to hold a couple of, say, 27" displays (which you could spend under a grand on combined, easily). At $1,500, it's expensive compared to two quality 1440p monitors, even at 144 Hz. It's also only a 70 Hz monitor, so it's definitely not a good option for gaming. Their site DOES mention Adaptive Sync, so maybe it does have the latter.
It's not JUST missing G-Sync, there's no mention of FreeSync either. Out-the-box calibration tests resulted in higher than 100 percent sRGB and 86 percent AdobeRGB. Generally speaking, you shouldn't really trust the factor calibration of displays since they're not perfect, but Philips did a great job on the unit we received for review.
